Crafting Luxury Beds Since 1934
Dreamwool has been in the luxury bed business since 1934 and in the Henderson family for over 50 years.
In 1978, Dreamwool owner Edgar Henderson began his quest for the most luxurious sleep. An ex-farmer with a bad back, Edgar remembered the old-fashioned black wool singlets worn by his shearers, and how they acted as natural insulators and adjusted to changes in temperature during the day to maximise comfort and create perfect balance – never too hot or too cold! From there, the first Woollen Overlay was created, and thousands have enjoyed Dreamwool’s quality, handcrafted Merino wool mattresses ever since.

Merino wool moves the dial in comfort, delivering unparalleled microclimate control for a truly restful night’s sleep. This extraordinary natural fibre comes from Merino sheep that thrive in New Zealand’s rugged backcountry – a region known for its dramatic temperature fluctuations. These sheep have evolved to produce wool that keeps them warm during icy winters and cool during scorching summers.
This same adaptive quality makes Merino wool the best material for regulating your bed’s microclimate. By using thick, plush layers of luxurious Merino, Dreamwool mattresses effortlessly maintain your ideal sleep temperature and draw humidity away quickly, ensuring a dry, breathable bed environment throughout the night.

Dreamwool crafts top of the line, luxury Latex and Pocketspring mattresses, which offer both maximum breathability and climate control, with no compromise on comfort. Here at Dreamwool, we strongly believe in the power of high quality, natural materials – that’s why we craft each luxury bed using a combination of natural, charcoal-infused latex and 100% Merino wool sourced sustainably from carefully selected South Island farms.
When you choose Dreamwool, you choose temperature controlled, durable, breathable products that don’t compromise on comfort. Our team can advise you on the benefits of each type of mattress and talk you through which type of luxury bed is best for your needs. Both types of mattresses move with you while you sleep and adapt to the curves and contours of your body.
Which Mattress is Right for You
Pocketspring
A resilient, contouring feel that aligns easily with your body’s shape. Custom comfort levels – soft, medium, firm, and ultra-firm – are achieved by adjusting the density of the latex, not by reducing comfort layers. The addition of charcoal-infused latex enhances breathability, temperature regulation, and freshness.
Latex
Exceptional support with individual coils that contour to your body’s profile and minimise partner disturbance. Comfort levels – soft, medium, and firm – are customized by using different wire gauges, ensuring tailored support without sacrificing plush comfort layers.
